Coolbaits Lure Company

The home of the original Southern California “Down Under” Underspin.

We continually innovate our product line based on our own experience on the water along with your valued feedback.

We are two brothers in San Diego committed to manufacturing great fishing lures for our customers.

We look forward to seeing what you haul in next time you cast a genuine Coolbaits lure.

Our innovative “Down Under” underspin lure boasts several design features that highlight how important it is to actually be an avid fisherman if you hope to make a name in the bait game.

  • ✓ Available in 6 different sizes (1/8oz – 1oz) & 11 fish-catching colors, with Coolbaits Trailers and Kickers to match.
  • ✓ All Coolbaits utilize at least one UV400 Wormkeeper — larger sizes have 2! This keeps your bait on the hook without ripping or tearing, saving you time & money.
  • ✓ The only underspin lure utilizing dual ball bearing swivels for maximum blade rotation — freefalling through a school of suspended bass, grinding in on boiling fish, or slow-rolling the bottom, these high-quality swivels & nickel-plated blades are always turning.
  • ✓ Detailed design down to flared gills, custom paint/lure combos, premium 3D eyeballs, and a natural overall balance makes Coolbaits Lures trick ’em every time.
  • ✓ Mustad chemically sharpened opti-angle needlepoint Nor-Tempered 2x Hook for lighter weight, more strength, and optimal hook penetration and set.

Coolballs Just Dropped

Coolbaits Coolballs urchin-style fishing lure packaging

Our unique take on urchin-style bass-smackin’ baits from the brothers who brought you Coolbaits.

The urchin-style bass bait is absolutely dominating the fishing scene right now. Walk down the tournament weigh-in lines or scroll through social media, and you’ll see the exact same thing: everybody and their mama is rushing to manufacture these lures because they are racking up massive bags and winning major checks. But let’s be honest… most of those companies are just chasing a trend.

Introducing Coolballs.

When you’re jerking, jigging, or bouncing Coolballs, you’re not just throwing the latest trend, you’re throwing the absolute pinnacle of its design, built by two brothers who fish hard and who refuse to settle for second best. We wanted a significantly better version to tie onto our own rods, so we went to the drawing board and built it ourselves.

Rig it right: add BF Urchin Saddle hooks →

Scanned the code on the pack? You're in the right place. Here's how to rig and fish Coolballs, from the two brothers who build them.

Rig it

Urchin plastic is dense and tough, so forcing a hook shank through it is tricky and hard on your fingers. Make a tunnel first.

1. Find the bump. Look for the small raised dot on the lure body. That is where the plastic was poured and sealed.

2. Make the tunnel. Run the sharp hook point in through the bump and straight out the other side, then pull it back out.

3. Seat it. Slide the hook eye and shank through the tunnel and seat the body on the hook.

Fish it

Bump it off the bottom and structure.

Sweep it along the bottom.

Jig it vertically.

Bass can't resist it, so work it however the day calls for.

Rig it on the BF Urchin Saddle

Most urchin hooks leave too little room between the lure and the hook point, which means short bites and missed fish. The BF Saddle gives you the clearance — no more short bites. Three weights for different techniques and conditions: 1/8oz, 3/16oz and 1/4oz.
